- Is your cat behaving in ways that are frustrating, destructive, annoying, or unpleasant, and you can't figure out why it's happening or how to change it? A home visit and a consultation plus follow-up visits, or ongoing email or phone contact, can give you an understanding of the cause and a plan for what to do about it.
- Adding another pet to the household? First meetings and the process of introduction can make all the difference in the relationship of new pets and established ones.
- Getting a cat or kitten for the first time? Get some help to make sure things are as comfortable as possible for your new family member!
I'll send you a questionnaire to fill out for the cat you want to discuss (which you can also find on the Forms page), just to give me a basic history and some idea of the situation. Depending on the issue, I may request more info and/or be able to make some preliminary suggestions by phone or email.
Ideally, I'll come to your home and meet you, your cat(s), and if possible other household members of all species.
If we're looking into a behavioural issue, I'll see if I can spot anything in the environment that could be a factor (please don't worry about your housecleaning!), and talk to you about what your cat is doing and possible reasons for it, and we'll work on a practical plan for how to resolve the situation.
If it's more of a preventative or informational visit, we'll handle it as the situation calls for, but again, a home visit and a meeting would be the most effective.
Either way, I'll be available for follow-up, to make certain all's going well, and to offer alternatives if necessary.
At this time, home visits are only available within the city of Kingston--generally, the area covered by Kingston Transit bus system. If you live outside that area, a consult can still be arranged by email or phone.
